Donna Rice proudly announces the new location and expansion of Serenity Counseling. Now located at 118 Valley Street, Cumberland and offering a plethora of therapy and counseling. The mission statement is simple yet innovative: “A new way of treating body, mind, and spirit”. Through this unique and fresh methodology, she has expanded her service beyond the conventional; not only utilizing standard counseling, but adding group therapy, couples therapy, meditation therapy, yoga, Acudetox, and a Maryland approved DUI/DWI course. Also, Donna is certified by the Maryland Office of Health Care Quality as an ASAM level .05 (educational program) and a Level 1 (out-patient program). Serenity Counseling is also capable of doing Urine and Swab substance testing. Serenity Counseling has helped adults and the nations veterans overcome conditions such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and addiction. Donna is a fully licensed clinical social worker and has more than ten years experience. Donna has worked extensively with military service members and is experienced in dual diagnosis treatment of behavioral health, mental heath, and addiction issues, as well as prolonged exposure therapy. Donna Rice has helped adults and the nation's veterans overcome conditions such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress. She says she understands that these conditions, and others, can lead to addiction issues and combined can cause a host of issues that can affect all areas of life. Rice, a licensed clinical social worker and owner of Donna Rice Counseling Services in Cumberland, has more than six years of experience working with military service members. Her services have also been utilized by the Veterans Administration to assist those who have served the country during peace time and war. She has experience in dual diagnosis treatment of behavioral health and addictions issues, as well as many treatment protocols used by the Department of Defense and the Veteran Affairs. These include prolonged exposure therapy, conjoint couples therapy, and many others. Although Rice most recently worked within the military setting, she said she is comfortable working with adults and children. She will be starting her practice out slowly with appointments scheduled in the evening, then working up to a full-time schedule as demand increases. She is qualified to do individual, couple, family, and group therapy sessions. Rice grew up in Oakland and has owned a home in the Cumberland area, where she currently resides with her children, for 12 years. She is a graduate of Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University in Morgantown. Naomi Whetstone will serve as the office and billing manager.
